When does it become an addiction to technology?

Is there to much social networking going on in your life? I think there probably is. Between MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, Gaming, and listening to podcasts I feel like my life is dominated by technology, which isn't neccessarily a bad thing, but I think it needs some restraint. I'm legitimately starting to treat these blogs I run, (this one, and the song of the day one) seriously, hell I'm even working on guests for the pod-bert. (got one I gotta record tonight.) So with all this technology how do we know when to cut lose the cord. (and yes... I do still have a myspace.... But I don't go on it often)

I think personally I've been making a point to help make my situation better, I play video games less, which is fun because I actually enjoy them more (even if I do need a few warm up matches now to get back in the swing for it) I don't have a fancy new phone (still rocking an LG 8300) and I try to not go on facebook more than once or twice a day. I've been trying harder to really focus on doing these blogs, and doing stand up again. Its difficult. I won't lie to you. I want to waste time playing video games, goofing off, and not really doing much. I think I could be more efficent if I had just one blog, but what're ya gonna do? I could change the song of the day blog into the nerd blog., keep this account for the Pod-Bert Rob-Cast, and enjoy the shit out of it, but who knows? Actually that is probably what I'm gonna do, so you're probably reading this on the song of the day blog, which is now going to be Rob's Nerd Blog. and this will be an archive of oldness.

Seems sad, yet its not really retiring a blog as much as its bringing it to another level.

Anyway... I suppose the last thought the original Rob's Nerd Blog will have, and the first post for the merged experience of only having this and the pod-bert. Is that sometimes you have to move forward in life, regardless of anything else.

Welcome to the new experience.

Sony's new handheld.

The gamespot video of the press conference

More importantly the thing looks pretty bad ass, with a similar design to the PSP, a touch pad, and graphics they claim compare to the PS3. I think it would be interesting to see how this effects the wider world.

I imagine that hardcore gamers will be more of a PC/Handheld gamer, and the casual games and motion controls will dominate the console world. imagine it with me, using a blu-tooth headset on your PSP 2 playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 seems like a pretty sweet idea if they can get the control system right.

The future of gaming is going to be a strange beast, and I'm excited for it.

MOVIE REVIEW: Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Warrior

Nightmare on elm street 4 I think, is where the series starts to lose its charm a bit.

Kristen's two friends that survived the previous movie make obviously rookie mistakes when dealing with Freddy and are subsequently killed instantly, and in horror tradition the black dude died first. I will give credit as always to Freddy's quirky humor.

So! Plot... Well lets just say its continuing the idea from the first one. Kristen is the last elm street kid, and her power to pull people into her dreams is transferred over to her crazy daydreaming friend, and Freddy uses her to spook other people into being pulled into the dreams so he can kill them. He gets his ass kicked when there is almost nobody left like usual.

The humor is top notch but you gotta assume that freddy has never messed with someone with a mental disorder, like O.C.D. or something that causes crazy shit to happen in the mind. someone who passes out on acid would probably be able to kick his ass with no trouble.

They obviously set it up for another sequel, and I'm sure I'll review that at one point, but for now I suppose its rating time.

I own it, but only because I'm a huge nerd. I'd suggest renting it, probably around halloween. Its good for a laugh.
3 out of 5 why not?

Why I hate Online gaming, and yet continue to do it.

Let's do some legit post shit, I've been writing, and trying to get back in the swing of doing comedy again... My humor doesn't work well in michigan...

Okay! So check it out first up the super bowl is coming up, and though I'm not a big fan of the super bowl, or football, or sports that aren't hockey, I'm a huge packers fan! So... Go Packers...

Anyway, on to topic!

First and foremost I fucking despise that I have to pay to use Xbox Live, when the Playstation Network is free.

Second and fivemost (yeah I made that cheesy joke) I really fucking hate the idea that the ESRB rating system doesn't work. I shouldn't have to play games with a bunch of retarded kids who say the N word every five seconds, and scream into the mic at every possible chance, they are practically begging me to shoot them in the face with some sort of home made, knife gun.

Additionally I despise those assholes that blast music so loud I can hear it on their headset, I mean seriously who the fuck wants to hear black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow while they are trying to throw a knife in last stand in CoD? No fucking body, that's who. Those mutha fuckers doing that can suck on a dick flavored razor!

You know what else I can't stand about playing online? FUCKING LAG!!!!!!! Now I understand lag is going to happen, but does it have to be so bad that I lose connections constantly? I mean really I'm a nerd, but I'm not that tech savvy, and even I know how to set my wireless settings to give me the best gaming performance from the wi-fi.

That's just in consoles! I can't even start on PC's. Lets just say that there are a lot of fucking simple ways to cheat in PC games if you know what you're doing. (and the people I run across obviously do.)

Now for PC's I can say the positive is that those who cheat aren't the only ones altering "the game" there are people creating additional content that makes playing on PC worth while, how many L4D2 levels are there on PC? (Which is another thing I'm pissed off about on the xbox, I want a level editor in l4d3's console version)How much more amazing is TF2? And of course the ultimate argument for excellent use of PC gaming you can play along with other people...

Minecraft.'Nuff said.

Now the consoles are a lot harder to justify my playing of, even though I play consoles way more! The comfort of a controller in my hand, it feels traditional, and right. I enjoy that. It's probably why I liked playing FF11 on my 360 when I did. (I only played for like a month, but damn it was fun.) But the best argument for consoles is more of my friends play them, and I love playing online with my friends, when we work together, we take down fuckers, and have a blast doing it, even if we lose we enjoy ourselves... Look. Seriously. When I can play Team Objective in Reach, and have fun consistently, you know I'm having a blast.

I think its just one of those things, you gotta take the good with the bad.

What are your thoughts?

A few funny videos

Oh funny or die... You find me such odd web videos.

MOVIE REVIEW: MacGruber

MacGruber was probably the oddest and greatest film I had seen in a long time.

I hadn't seen it until last night, which was amazing, and a surprise.

Plot! MacGruber is a retired agent, the BEST agent ever, he fakes his death when Dieter von Cunth (played by Val Kilmer, who was also batman at one point in time) kills the woman he loves.

Fast forward a few years, MacGruber comes out of retirement to stop Cunth from using a nuclear warhead, I don't think they say why he was using it other than to get money, but I bet its because he's upset that he's too fat to be batman anymore.

MacGruber SPRINGS into action, and gathers his greatest team known to man... He promptly, and accidentally kills them, He throws around the idea of sucking dick, and being fucked just so someone will help him, and shoves celery into places you don't often see it.

They fight alot of bad guys, and somehow bumble through killing everyone of them (traditional affair for this kinda movie

Full of absurd humor, crude humor, and a male pony tail, and mullet, there were a couple moments of fucked up comedy, and those are the best moments. everything about this movie is trying to be over the top. I'd recommend the fuck out of it for just that reason. 5/5
